A few days ago, after several years happy use of Thunderbird, it has stopped downloading my emails to my computer where I have stored them for several years - off line I have no idea how to address the issue as nothing has changed at my end. I am thinking the only solution may be to backup all the data uninstall and reinstall thunderbird - if so what is the safest way to do that please?

Thunderbird 128.5.2esr (32-bit) Odd problem in that just one folder was being identified as not being able to be compacted because of Disk Space....not true, plenty of space as I keep it regularly cleaned. I can clear the issue by making another folder of a different name, copying all messages to that folder then running COMPACT on the new folder and nothing is amiss. Run it on the original problem folder and no issues. Delete the original folder and create another with the same old name and transfer the messages to the now new originally named folder. Delete the TEMP folder. Then run a COMPACT on the problem folder and no issues.

Then run compact on the whole message tree and sure enough the COMPACT issue has now moved to a different folder. I suspect you could chase this thing till the cows come home but won't resolve, just moves it from folder to folder.

Now I could just kill Thunderbird and reinstall but this is intriging. Not sure if that would help. Ran TROUBLESHOOT MODE clean with out the only extension I use and no change. Stumped.

Imported email folder merge

I used ImportExportTools NG to export messages from one profile and import to another.

I tried to export only selected messages from my one of my local folders (it seemed an option, but IET NG is not intuitive).

Whatever, the import process has created a sub-folder in the local folder of the same name, and there is a huge redundancy (duplication) resulting.

My question: how can I merge the sub-folder into the parent, when dragging and dropping is not allowed?

I can't find it on this support site; (nor can your search engine.) It seems an odd oversight for an APP whose raison t'etre is communication.

Any help you can offer will be welcome. There are workarounds but all of them add to an already unacceptable burden of having to work around the workarounds that every Update to any software element of the system, however, minor, tends to generate.

Hello guys: In MANY YEARS of using Thunderbird, my Incoming messages have started collected in Trash INSTEAD of in the 'Inbox' Folder ALWAYS set in 'Inbox' Folder set as the default: I have spent a lot of times searching for the cause of this malfunction but I can't find to find the cause and the way how to resolve this malfunction. Recently Thunderbird quit working with my RCN email account - outgoing server timed out

"Connection to outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.rcn.com timed out". I called RCN support and they said my settings looked OK and I tried various combinations but nothing work… (read more)

"Connection to outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.rcn.com timed out". I called RCN support and they said my settings looked OK and I tried various combinations but nothing works. I tried turning off firewall but that didn't help. They suggested I contact Thunderbird.

This has been working for years but my last sent message was 4/27/2024. Obviously I don't use the account much!

Server smtp.rcn.com is OK and I tried both ports that RCN said should work. Connection security SSL/TLS (I tried others). Authentication method - encrypted password (I tried others). Username should be OK too - my name before the @rcn.com. That has been that way for a long time.

Any ideas? I can receive emails just fine.

I am on the latest release. 139.0.1 (64-bit)

After upgrading the Thunderbird Desktop, when editing the email, I found that the previously saved email template could not be found, and there was no entry to open the template in the menu bar either. I couldn't find a solution, please help. (PS. In the red box of the screenshot, it was originally a mail template.)

I'm currently noticing that images sent to me aren't appearing in Thunderbird Inbox.

I look at messages first in Mailwasher (while they're still on the server) and download the ones I want to keep or read later. I saw an image in one of today's emails while it was in Mailwasher, but when I read it in Thunderbird, the image wasn't there.

Then I noticed a couple of other emails that mention an attachment, there is nothing there.

Previously received photos are still there.

Is there some setting I accidentally made?

I get the following message sometimes in my MS Outlook email.

"Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally Local Folder/Sent-dwagner@lancorpnet.com.

Network fine, "file access errors"??? It did save it there either. How can I fix this

Yesterday, when I opened Thunderbird, I was asked to input my password from two different gmail accounts. Why?

I received e-mails until about 6pm yesterday.

Today, I'm not receiving any e-mails and I cannot send any.

I have been using Thunderbird for years and have never had any problems; unfortunately, from few days, every time I try to download my mail, thunderbird starts downloading all my 15,000 emails, even though they have already been downloaded and read.
